Job details
The service provides support for people with neurodegenerative diseases and related conditions. It is a 50 bedded centre where the individuals are encouraged and supported to personalise to make them feel more at home.
As a speech and language therapist you will be expected to manage adults with learning disabilities and neurodegenerative diseases and provide support to those with complex communication difficulties. You will be working closely with parents/carers, social services and other agencies to provide the best support possible for our residents and will install passion in the surrounding team so the environment is positive and empowering for the ;
You will be expected to:
• Manage an independent caseload of adults with complex communication difficulties.
• Partake in the training and support of parents, carers, support workers, or other professionals for them to be able to support the communication care plan and encourage communication in an appropriate way.
• Provide support for adults transitioning in or out of the service to ensure communication needs are understood, documented and support is in place to increase as much as is possible the service user's ability to communicate with those around them.
• To provide a comprehensive SLT service to include assessment and therapy with a specialist level of clinical expertise reflecting on service users auditory, visual and kinaesthetic abilities.
• Design and implement clear treatment plans with clearly identified aims and objectives.
• Supervise the practice of support workers in their approach to communication with service users and participate where needed in induction or training of new team members within your area of expertise.
To be considered for this role it is essential that you be registered with RCSLT and HCPC and have knowledge about the speciality and have a minimum of 2 years experience within a similar role.
